Become a Friend of the Nakina CALL

Many Canadians and others around the world want to help us cope and recover from the generational impact of colonization on our peoples. We have identified strengthening our land relationships as the way to do that healing work and thus help ourselves.

As a Friend of the Nakina CALL, and in the Spirit of the Tlingit Potlatch as we are in Taku River Tlingit Territory, we are creating the opportunity to have your name called aloud as a Friend of the Nakina CALL.

Our understanding of our collective economic principles is that “we give what we can” to the whole. Everyone contributes proportionately to their ability to give financially. Those who have more put in more at the Potlatch and their names are called aloud to give honour to the fact that they are contributing what they can. So, when someone with a limited income gives $5.00, it is seen and received as valued the same as the gift of $10,000.00 from someone who can afford to give more. In a world where we all give what we can, and do give, no one is better and we create a better world for all.

Last updated May 29th 2023.

This total is updated in accordance with actual costs for the 2023 season.

Every one of our young people who come to the camp does so as a volunteer. Each of them could be working at a mining camp, making an average of $500 a day.

When donating, we give the option to donate directly to the young people at the Nakina CALL. At the end of the season, we divide that amount equally between the youth in proportion to the amount of time they spend with us.
